When websites are correctly designed, developed, and edited, all users can have equal access to information and functionality. At our November meeting -- at a special location -- we will review how designing for web accessibility makes websites usable by people of all abilities and disabilities.
We are very fortunate to be able to meet at the Cleveland Sight Center (www.clevelandsightcenter.org), where we will hear from a Sight Center staff member who is an expert on assistive technology.  As a blind individual who uses the popular screen reader JAWS (Job Access With Speech), he will explain the visually impaired online experience and what the screen reader “sees.”
Jill Timieski, HTML/CSS Developer from SCK Design, Inc., will then discuss the top five accessibility mistakes developers make that negatively impact websites. These five areas will cover CSS best practices, Accessible data input (forms), navigation, accessible content, and assistive technologies.
Patricia Ross, Vice President of SCK Design, Inc., will talk on how accessibility best practices are also SEO (search engine optimization) best practices.
This a very special meeting because of the importance of website accessibility, so please actively invite others to join you at this meeting.  Please select this link for driving directions to the Cleveland Sight Center  (located at: 1909 East 101st Street, Cleveland, OH 44106-8696).
