  • 14 Nov 2009
  • 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Main Classroom Building Rm 136, East 22nd & Chester Ave., Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio
So much of what we do today requires going on the internet, and even if it is not required, the internet makes it a lot easier. This includes:
  • banking
  • paying bills
  • checking your stocks & investments
  • making travel arrangements
No matter how secure your system is, there is always a chance that something could infect you and your identity and money could be stolen. So how can you avoid this? Not using the internet is no longer an option.

What if you could have a second computer that you use for these sensitive internet transaction? And what if it was read only so that no virus or spyware could be written to it? There is a way to do it.

The answer is a bootable Linux CD or DVD that you could put in your current computer, go on the internet, do what you need to do, and then go back to using your computer as normal.

At the meeting, we will learn more about this process, including how you can make a Linux CD / DVD for free and how to use it.

Check back for information on the presenter.

Directions to the meeting are available here.
