General Meeting - Windows 7 - Worth the Upgrade?

On October 22nd, Microsoft officially releases Windows 7. Can you feel the excitement? OK, gone are days where stores were open at midnight so we could buy the first copy of a new release. Microsoft has had some great releases like Windows 98 and Windows XP; and some releases like Windows ME and Windows Vista, where, um, the less said the better.

So why should you get 7? Your XP suits you just fine. Or maybe you got Vista working the way you want. Do you want to put the time and effort into switching?

Join us on October 10th and see for yourself as Bob Coppedge and his crew from Simplex-IT give us a preview of Windows 7, and maybe a little about Windows Server 2008 R2. You will learn about:

• What exactly is Windows 7? Something completely new, or more of the same old, same old?
• Different versions of Windows 7? Why should you care?
• What hardware do I need?
• Can I upgrade from Vista, XP or Windows 98? Yes, possible and are you serious?
• Is Windows 7 really faster than Vista or XP?
• What are the compelling, gotta have it reasons to get Windows 7? A new version of Solitaire is not enough?

The meeting will talk about Windows 7 from both a home user and a business user standpoint. 

We will have copies of the Windows 7 DVD Release Candidate with which you can try out Windows 7 for yourself. Plus we will have books from O’Reilly Publishing and maybe a few other surprises.
