Web Development SIG - Website Usability & Consumer Experience

Cathleen Zapata will define usability and explain its role when designing and enhancing a Web site. She will discuss tools and methods for improving the usability and online customer experience.

Cathy is the president of the Northeast Ohio Usability Professionals' Association (NEOUPA - www.neoupa.org). NEOUPA promotes usability throughout Northeast Ohio for individuals interested in websites, applications, software, and other types of user interfaces where usability is a key to success. She is also currently VP, Research & Customer Experience at Metrics Marketing Group (www.metricsmarkting.com), an interactive and database marketing firm in Cleveland. 

With more than 14 years experience, Cathy specializes in Web site usability and managing the holistic customer experience. Her background includes a wealth of experience in usability testing, heuristic evaluations, user research and conversion enhancement strategies. She has received extensive usability training from the Neilson Norman Group, and was quoted in MarketingSherpa's Marketing Wisdom for 2006. She is a published author, and frequently teaches on topics of Web Usability both nationally, and at local colleges and at community events. Cathy has been on the board of NEOUPA for over four years, and is also on the board of The Web Association. Cathy has consulted with numerous Fortune 500 clients on Web Marketing & Usability. Representative clients include: KeyBank, Medical Mutual of Ohio, National City Bank, The Cleveland Clinic, Nationwide Insurance, Safelite AutoGlass, Insurance.com, Citizens Bank, Flagstar Bank, Hallmark, Philosophy, Alltel and Coach, Inc.
