General Meeting - Switching to a Mac & Windows on a Mac

  • 14 Mar 2009
  • 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Main Classroom Building Rm 134, East 22nd & Chester Ave., Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio
We know that Windows is not the only operating system (OS) out there. In recent years, many long time Windows users have switched to the Apple Mac computers, some even run Windows alongside the Mac OS.

What are the advantages and the disadvantages of making the switch? Can long time Window users find happiness?

Peter Petto, a past President of the organization, will show us his MacBook. He will show how he runs Windows on it. Even an old DOS program or two. Peter will let us see what Microsoft Office looks like and open some files.

For comparison, Peter will also show Apple iWork with it's Pages, Numbers and Keynote; and how they stack up against Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Finally, he will show iLife, which includes iPhoto and iMovie.

For many years, Peter used to run the Q&A at the meetings. He is a lawyer by training, ran a family business and is now a high school math teacher.

Directions to the meeting are available here.
