Can you steal the action of thinking? Questions about fair use, intellectual property, and licensing web content.

This talk led by Joshua Smith (Twitter: @kognate; Google+: kognate) will be part lecture and history of licensing and intellectual property, and part discussion about current issues and the state of intellectual property in digital media. We will discuss Fair Use, publicness, and the Creative Commons. We will also provide a bibliography of the major works covering these topics.

Joshua Smith is currently a Systems Engineer for Lextech Global Services, a mobile strategy and development firm based in Lisle, IL. Josh has 15 years of professional IT experience and has been a Sysadmin (and still kinda is), Programmer in various languages, Consultant, Employee, and guy who makes sure the pop machine is full.

He lives and works in Ohio with his wife and two children and tries to use his powers for good.
